WE LOVE DAD: Father's Day Gift Ideas

If the men in your life are anything like mine they are notoriously hard to shop for.  I always end up giving them a gift card to their favorite place(s) - Banana Republic for the Hubs, Starbucks or Cabelas for my Dad, and Amazon or Kindle credits for my FIL.  I know that they appreciate the gift cards {who doesn't love free cash to spend} but I always feel like it doesn't adequately express just how thankful I am for the amazing Dads and Granddads they are.

So this year, {in addition to their gift cards} I'm giving them pictures of the children - the little people that look up to them, idolize them, and love them fiercely.  I hope this gift says thank you, thank youTHANK YOU for all the things you do for us:  kissed boo boos, made us fly, taught us everything from bike riding to fixing a flat, and giving us the confidence that we could do anything and be anything in this world as long as we weren't afraid to get out there and try our best.

Any man can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a Dad and I'm so thankful that we have three of the best in the world.

If you're looking for a last minute gift and would love a Dad EST. sign or photo of your kids holding a "We <3 Dad" {or Papa, Gampy, Gramps, Pop Pop} banner for Father's Day we can help!  You can order custom versions of these two signs and banners by clicking on the links below.

We would love to hear your ideas for Father's Day gifts!  Tell us your favorite Father's Day gift in the comments below AND like our Facebook page.  We will choose one winner to receive a "We Love Dad" banner!  Comments will close at 10 pm EST on Monday, June 15th.

My "Happy Summer" Teacher Gift

{I hope that this little gift basket says, "Happy sipping (or gulping) delicious wine.  Happy days filled with wearing your hair down and messy.  Happy having enough time to do your nails, read a book, or lounge by a pool. And when those Summer days start to come to an end, happy classroom shopping and decorating.  Happy all things Summer.  Thank you."}

Only FIVE more days of school left (for better or for worse) until Summer vacation starts here in Loudoun County!  If you're like me, that means you only have 5 more days to come up with some wonderful way to attempt to thank the teachers who have done so much* for your children throughout this school year Although with all of the teachers who have worked with your children (classroom teachers, teacher assistants, Special Education teachers, librarians, counselors, art and music teachers, PE teachers, office staff... ), where do you find the time, money, & perfect way to say "Thank you.  Happy Summer!"  What do teachers really want?!

Here's the answer: Teachers really want these 5 days to pass as quickly as possible so that they can look at us parents and say, "Tag.  You're it!" While I can't make the time go faster, I can give them this small token of my and my children's appreciation to help kick off their well-deserved Summer break. I hope that this little gift basket says, "Happy sipping (or gulping) delicious wine.  Happy days filled with wearing your hair down and messy.  Happy having enough time to do your nails, read a book, or lounge by a pool. And when those Summer days start to come to an end, happy classroom shopping and decorating.  Happy all things Summer.  Thank you."

This little basket includes:

{A  handpainted, monogramed wine glass.}

{An adorable, handmade Summer hair accessory}

{A cute little nail file}
So, that's it.  I encourage you to put together a little something for the teachers in your child's life. It's simple-- just gather a few thoughtful, yet practical items and have your kid write a heartfelt thank you note.

What are you doing for your child's teachers?  I'd love to hear some ideas! If you like my idea, but don't have the time or energy to put a basket together, you can order custom baskets or basket items by clicking on the links below the photos or by clicking on this link right here:

Happy Summer Students, Parents, and especially Teachers!

--Lindsay G

*Please note that this is a brief overview of tasks that a teacher might do on behalf of your child during a school year.  Plan, execute, and shop for materials for lessons designed to educate their students, care for hurt feelings,  mediate small arguments/disagreements, answer 4,000 questions per day, haul stacks of papers to grade to and from home, attend staff meetings, plan at team meetings, stay after school to conference with parents in person or on the phone, pretend to be extremely interested in a child's 20 minutes story, send home thoughtful student-made gifts for parents, restrict use of the bathroom to specials and planning periods, constantly remind students to use manners & follow school rules, make copies, laminate, coordinate parent volunteers, direct plays, write report cards with detailed individualized commentary, make each of their students feel loved, cared for, and special.
